Later, a dark car approached slowly coming alongside. She looked out the corner of her eyes and saw a blond guy who was driving. Soon the car stopped and a man's voice asked.

  "Do you want a ride?"

Amelia had no time to answer, ran into the woods and disappeared fleeing from strange.

At home, she went straight to the bathroom. She was in the shower, muttering how her body was full of grass. Without knocking, Marianne went to the bathroom. Hers cheap perfume filled the narrow enclosure closed.

"I have not finished" - Amelia exclaimed moody.

"I just came to look in the mirror" - Marianne said, all arranged.

Amelia looked at her and saw her wearing tight clothes and high heels. - "Are you going out?"

"Do you want to come with me?"

  "Where are you going?"

  "A dance"

  "What dance?"

She shrugged. - "What I have to do well in a dance?"

Soon, Amelia said. - "Not quite a year my father died"

Her stepmother gave her a quick response.

"I will not stay home mourning the death of your father. No way you think so"

"I thought you loved" - Amelia's voice trailed off.

"I loved him ... But now he is dead"

  "I keep alive in me"

However, Marianne looked. - "I have to live my life" - she said and left the bathroom.

Amelia turned off the shower and stood looking down. She realizes how much her stepmother was ungrateful after the death of her father. She did not respect the mourning family.

  ***

  Just hours later...

Marianne returned dancing at dawn, arrived drunk. Amelia got out of bed and walked around the rooms. Soon the young woman saw her stepmother's movements on the couch. With legs and open arms from side to side. She was lying in a dream of complete drunkenness.

She reached out and felt a hot scent of alcohol mixed with cigarette. Amelia automatically shook her hand in front of her nose, trying to keep out the horrible smell of your nose.

That same morning, Amelia did all the housework while her stepmother slept without worries.

Marianne woke up after noon. She went to the kitchen, where Amelia was washing dishes for lunch.

"I thought you were not awake"

  "I had fun! I danced a lot!"

She exclaimed and picked up a red apple fruit from the bowl on the table. She bit and looked at Amelia standing in the sink.

"You should have gone with me! There was a man so handsome in dance, Amelia!"

She grimaced. Her cheeks were flushed with anger.

"You should have had a minimum of respect for my late father. You should be ashamed to say such foolish things!"

No regrets, Marianne shrugged again and bit her apple. And the issue between the two women died.

  THE SECOND MEETING

  A few days later...

Marianne was in the kitchen putting the grocery store in the closet, after she returned home bringing some food missing. At that time, Amelia came to the site to drink water.

"I met my godmother in the city, had many years since I saw her. She invited me to lunch at her home on Sunday"

"And you'll go?" - filled a glass with water and drank seemed thirst..

"Both will go" - She said and closed the cabinet against the wall.

"I do not want to go"

But Marianne tried to convince her. - "You will like my godmother is like Mrs. Clotilde, elderly, poor She loves to have visitors at home...

  ***

On Sunday, Marianne persuaded Amelia to go to lunch at the home of her godmother. They arrived an hour before lunch, actually to serve the table. Amelia was presented to Mrs. Mirian, and she had a feeling it could be her grandmother.

Later after lunch, the three tasted the sweets made by Mirian.

"I live alone in this big house; sometimes my grandson comes to visit me"

"Now that we are back with my godmother, I will always be here to see you" - Marianne said.

"I hope so, I hope your visit in this house always beloved goddaughter"

After a few minutes, the three went to the room where they enjoyed a delicious tea and toast. But Amelia would not drink tea not used to do in their daily life.

"Excuse me, but I go to the garden to take the air"

"Feel free," said the old frankly.

Amelia smiled and left the house. She stood enjoying the beautiful garden. The butterflies flew over some flowers.

Looking ahead, she saw a black horse approached. She stared at him, then the animal stopped near her and a young man gets down.

Amelia frowned as he looked at the child's face and realized it was the same person who had offered her a ride few days ago.

"You're the guy who gave me a ride the other day?" - She squeezed her eyes at him.

  He smiled politely and asked.

  "Surprised to see me here?"

"I did not expect ..." - She shook her head, looking confused.

The boy stroked the face of his horse and introduces himself with education.

  "My name is Juan Carlos"

She answered, but a little shy.

  "Amelia"

"And then Amelia, will you ride a little - asked looking at his horse.

"I cannot" - And she looked at the animal. Amelia realized that the blond boy had great affinity with the four-legged animal.

"You cannot, or will not?" - He looked into her eyes.

Amelia blushed and looked down. Trying to explain.

  "I just cannot"

  But he insisted otherwise.

  "We're going for a walk"

She looked him in the face. - "If you promise us will not delay..."

  "I promise"

After a while, both were walking in the garden. Juan Carlos had tied his horse to the trunk of a nearby tree house.

He had a pale shirt, old jeans and riding boots.

"You do not speak very much! I see you're a shy girl."

"I just talk too much when I want to. To tell the truth, I speak more alone than with someone. I have no friends, so just I communicate with the wind, trees, and animals and when I do my prayers to God."

The boy smiled. - "You are starting to let go"

Amelia looked at him seriously. There was a look of question in her dark eyes. - "Sometimes I think they follow me"

However, Juan Carlos, looked into her eyes and said firmly. - "Are our paths destinations"

Confused, Amelia shifted her gaze from him. The words and the look of the boy seemed even more confused. Then she said in a soft voice.

"I have to go back home"

She pointed to the house and they both looked at the house at the same time. The house was white with colonial roof.

A few moments later. They approached to the house and Juan Carlos was soon coming to Amelia. He did not understand the sudden invasion of the child. Soon her face crumpled in his direction. He is walking in front, as if he knew the place and everything.

  "Good afternoon, Grandma!"

"Good afternoon, dear!" - The old woman looked at her goddaughter and soon reported. - "This is my grandson, Juan Carlos"

She held out her hand and smiled at the blond boy. - "Nice to meet you, I'm Marianne"

"She's my goddaughter. And this girl is ..."

  Juan Carlos intervened.

  "We already knew"

I said looking at the face of the girl who was standing next to the sofa. He smiled quietly to Amelia, however, she remained serious.

  ***

At home, Marianne said something to Amelia as she walked behind her, both passed through the front door of the house.

"Juan Carlos is a good game. It's beautiful, it's from a good family, educated, and have money my daughter, you'd be a queen marrying him"

"I love him only as a friend"

"For this reason, people today are marrying more for friendship than love. Do you think so?"

Amelia winced at the ironic tone of his stepmother. Marianne said only absurd for the girl.

"I'm serious. He as a friend will be great. I have to talk to, but he always talk.

"You're such a clown like that friendly chat Amelia"

Marianne muttered and threw her purse on the couch. She sat on it and began to take off sandals.

  THE PORCELAIN DOLL

Overnight, Marianne decided to go to the club to dance and while Amelia was in her room, reading a book aloud. Then it started raining and Amelia looked at the window, she rose from her bed and was out of the house, she tried to pick up the clothes lay.

During this period, the rain was strong and she ended up all wet. Then she took all her clothes off, she went to her room and changed clothes, put on another clean dress more comfortable.

Meanwhile, Marianne was kissing and hugging a man inside the club.

  ***

The next morning, Amelia was burning with fever, lying on her bed. Marianne was surprised that she had not risen yet and went to her room and sat on one side of the bed.

"Do you have anything else besides a fever?"

  "I feel very cold"

Amelia replied, hugging herself. She was sweating and shivering at the same time. She had fallen and has dull eyes.

"You shouldn't have gone with the rain to pick up clothes. You should have let wet clothes, what evil can do a wetting the clothes?"

"The clothes left with a strange smell"

She struggled to respond, looking toward her stepmother.

"What is it that those clothes fucking stick with the strange smell?" - Her voice thickened. - "What matters is your health, not the crappy clothes!"

  ***

Marianne came to Amelia's room with a white pill and a glass of water. After she had gone to a pharmacy in town and had brought a bag of drugs.

"Drink this. Your fever will soon pass"

She raised her glass and pressed toward Amelia. She sat on the bed and took the pill and glass of water and swallowed both silent.

"Now, let me fix you a little accommodating your hair, have a lipstick, you're with pale lips!"

Marianne said. After she took the glass and put on a small table beside the bed.

It took a moment for her to brush Amelia's hair and let loose and thrown back shoulder. Amelia would not put lipstick being indoors and less at this time of day.

"Now you wait here, I'll call a visit" - She smiled at Amelia. - "I found it in the center of the city and made sure to come to see you"

Amelia frowned. - "Who is here?

  "It's a surprise"

Marianne said and left the room. Amelia drew back the table to her bed and stared at the closed door. In a few moments he went through the door of her room a blond boy with a package in hand.

Amelia looked at his clothes and realized he was dressed in a dark gray shirt, jeans and sneakers.

  "I'm surprised you again, right?"

He said he approached the bed.

  "Why are you here?"

She looked him in the face. He seemed quite surprised by the unexpected visit of the boy.

"Do you still ask?" - He raised an eyebrow.

  "Did I the wrong question?"

Her voice was soft as she tried to explain it in a healthy way. - "It is not appropriate and referring to the visits, Amelia"

He handed the package with wrapping paper and pink said.

  "I hope you like it"

For a moment, Amelia looked at the package on the child's hands and then took him with fear. Wanted gift and at the same time no. He thought reject this, but figured it would be a discourtesy on her part.

Once he opened the package. His eyes flashed to a beautiful porcelain doll.

"I loved it! How do you know that I like dolls?"

"Huhuhm ... your appearance made it clear that"

  "Sit!"

He sat on the bed beside her. Juan Carlos looked Amelia silently and realized that she was happier with this. It was a complete girl, but sometimes seemed a child. It seemed so innocent and full of childish fantasies.

"All my dolls has a name I will choose a name for it." - Said at the boy who sat on the bed.

Soon, he said. - "Amelia, do you like it?"

"It could be I have no doll named Amelia" - She accepted and took the doll to her chest, hugged her porcelain like might have life and might have it in the same way.

  Juan Carlos continued watching.

"Can I know if the fever comes down?"

  "Do you understand that?"

  "A little"

He tried to be sensitive and put his hand on her forehead. He felt her temperature for a while.

  "It's a little hot"

He muttered and removed his hand from the front of the girl .

  "Do you like fishing?"

  "I like"

"When you're better, I'll make an appointment for us to go fishing"

Smiling, he took her hand and held his breath. Amelia also squeezed half of his hand and tried to smile back. She always felt happiest in the company of her new friend. Juan Carlos used to be so nice to her. Amelia felt that she was a special and important to someone else. Before she only felt that way when her father was alive.

  Chapter 11

  FISHING

  A few weeks later...

"I think you should eat something"

Marianne said looking at Amelia with a glass of orange juice standing in the kitchen.

She interrupted her juice and answered. - "Not because I'm going to be late, I think"

  "So you think?"

The sound of a car horn came from outside the house. Amelia ran and left the empty glass of juice on the kitchen table.

  "That's him, I'm going"

"Good luck!" - Her stepmother winked.

"If your luck really works, we will bring many fish"

"I have not said in that sense" - Marianne shook her head and smiled.

However, Amelia left the house without understanding the hint of Marianne. She had no idea of sin was not like her stepmother.

  ***

Juan Carlos and Amelia sat on the grass, putting the things he had taken from the car. The day was nice. Fishing seemed favorable for them.

"What do you want? Hook, net or mesh?"

"The Net. Is it too big?"

  "No"

Moments later, they got slowly into the river. They walked pulling it open net, and they went smoothly. Juan Carlos was in shorts and no shirt with a dark cap to protect his head. Amelia was in a bathing suit and wearing a long dress and beachwear. On her head wearing a straw hat to protect her head and face from sunlight.

  "I stepped on something strange!"

Amelia whispered, afraid to go forward. Juan Carlos looked at her and grabbed a smile in the corner of his mouth.

At the end of the fishing with the net they dragged back to the river and went to the grass where a shadow made by a huge tree branch. They brought five fish from the net.

"The fishing was not good today!"

He murmured, saying he had caught many and several times nets full of fish.

  "It was not so bad!"

His fishing partner tried to soften.

Immediately, Juan Carlos improvised a small fire and put the five fish baking, side by side. The smell began to invade his nostrils and hunger worsened.

  "I brought something to drink"

The young man said, opening a bag in Napa and took a few cans of beer.

  "I do not drink"

"Not soda?" - He looked at her, sitting on the grass.

Amelia looked down and smiled embarrassed. - "I thought you were referring to alcoholic beverages"

They were eating their fish pieces made on fire and Juan Carlos took his beer, while Amelia drank a soda. Suddenly she opened her eyes and muttered something.

"I forgot to thank God for the food"

She put the fish on paper and the can of soda in the grass. She raised her ha
nds on her shoulders, closed her eyes and remained a few minutes without speaking.

Juan Carlos looked at her, he frowned. However, he did not follow her example. The young man did not have the habit of praying.

Soon after, the two decided to rest. Juan Carlos was lying on the grass and Amelia sat beside her. Her fingers played with the wheel of her dress, while her dark eyes fixed on the face yellow boy.

"Do you have a lot of friends?"

"They are not good friends, but they are colleagues, true friends, it is difficult today"

She was agreed with her open palm. Sometimes she stared the blue sky and squeeze her crystal eyes.

"Do you consider me a friend?

"Do you want me as your friend?"

  He looked at her discretion.

"I never had friends, I was always alone, and you are as a perfect friend"

The boy sat on the grass. He seemed interested in the subject and also to look at the face of Amelia closer. - "How old are you Amelia?"

  "Eighteen. And you?"

  "Twenty four"

"My stepmother says I'm too young"

She glanced sideways. But Juan stared at the elusive young face.

  "I do not believe it"

He said, searching her eyes. Amelia looked a little lost. She was not used to being confronted and all for a pair of blue eyes.

"Now tell me about yourself. I always talk about me. If it is not asking too much, tell me about your life"

The eyes of Juan Carlos fled. They looked at the branches of trees and far. - "I'm an only child, I have wonderful parents, a lovely grandmother, I have many colleagues, and now a friend ..."

  Amelia smiled and continued.

"I have some sad days and others happy" - he looked down. - "I had a girlfriend"

Amelia realized he was sad. His face quivered and his voice fell with the word girlfriend.
