Valkyrie - the Vampire Princess 3 Page 3

“Maybe that animal isn’t so dangerous.”

“Valkyrie... we're talking about a panther and not a dog.”

  Chapter 13

I looked out the living room window as my mother parked her car. My mother got home and lay down on the couch.

“All sacrifice for nothing!” she grumbled

  “Sacrifice?” I asked innocently.

“Your blood count has been made in vain,” she said to me.

  “I don’t understand,” I said.

“The doctor disappeared a few weeks ago. No one knows where he is now and they can’t find your blood count.”

“Did the doctor disappear?” I asked being sure about the answer. After all, I saw when Eros killed the doctor and his men.

My visions revealed to me the murderer.

“That’s weird. Why would the doctor disappear this way?” She stared at me.

“He could have gotten into a mess,” I said normally.

“It might be that...” she finally agreed with me.

“Did they comment only about that?”

I wanted to be sure about Eros. I wanted to be sure he wasn't one of the investigation’s targets.

“No one knows anything. Even the delegate doesn’t know the cause of his disappearance.”

  Chapter 14

I was in my room and sat on the bed. I was reading some pages in my diary. For one awful moment, I was reminded of when I first met Eros. But my thought had been interrupted when I noticed my mother’s presence. She was standing in front of my bedroom door and she was looking at me.

“What happened?” I asked, seeing her look over me.

“Nothing happened. I like to observe you,” she said. Her face was thoughtful.

“It is not so bad,” I said, returning to my reading.

  “Valkyrie!”

I gazed into her eyes as I was apprehensive.

“I’d been thinking about leaving this town,” she said carefully.

“Do we have to leave this town?” I rose, holding my diary. “Why?”

“We aren’t safe here with all the strange things that are going on right now....”

“We aren’t safe anywhere else either.”

“I have already decided to do it,” she said.

“No, mother, we won’t leave this town.” I said decided.

“Valkyrie, you have never gone against my decisions,” she said surprised.

“That's right. Now it's my time to decide what is good or bad for me,” I said.

“Valkyrie, you are also different,” she said.

“I’m sorry.” I said and lowered my head.”I don’t belong to you,” I said sadly.

“Why are you talking about that, daughter?” she asked me and her eyes were wide.

“Forget what I told you!” I tried to soothe what I said to my mother.

“Are you thinking of leaving me?” she asked, worried.

“I'll not do that,” I replied as I thought I had done it once.

“Then you will go with me wherever I go.” Her voice was authoritative.

“We'll stay here,” I said resolutely.

“Why don’t you want to go away from here?” she insisted.

“I like this place,” I said as my mind saw Eros’ image.

“You're right...so we'll stay here,” she finally said.

“Mother, don’t worry about me.” I stared at her face. “I know how to defend myself,” I confessed to her.

“You act as if you have supernatural powers,” my mother joked.

I said nothing. I just came back to open my diary.

But I had the supernatural domain and she did not know it yet.

  Chapter 15

Mirta went to the town center with her classmates to watch a movie. She had called me to go along with her but I thought it was better I don't go. Avoiding groups of people would be the best thing to do.

She left the movies accompanied by three girls. They made several comments about the movie. The four girls walked on towards the main street. Mirta stopped walking when she saw something across the street, staring at her.

“Eros?” she said confused. She didn’t expect his presence at that moment.

“What did you say?” one of the girls asked.

“Eros is across the street,” Mirta said to her classmates.

“He hasn’t attended school for a while,” another girl commented.

Eros waved Mirta to go over to him.

“He wants to talk to me,” Mirta said. She crossed the street and approached the young vampire. Her friends were across the street, watching them.

Eros was in his dark clothes.

“Eros,” she said as she approached him.

“You’re here ...” he said looking at her pink dress.

“I came to watch a movie with my classmates. I called Valkyrie to come with us but she didn’t want to come.”

He continued watching her as he showed no interest in knowing about me.

“Valkyrie told me you went to visit your parents,” she commented.

“Yes ... I came back yesterday,” he said.

“Valkyrie will love to know about this.” Mirta looked content.

  “She already knows,” he alleged.

“She told me nothing about your return,” she said.

“Can we talk somewhere else?” Eros asked looking straight ahead.

  “Oh, yes,” Mirta replied innocently.

She thought that Eros wished to talk about me.

Mirta gestured for her friends to go away. Then they walked away and left Mirta in the company of Eros.

The two went on and walked to a small square. There was a bench made of wood and some pigeons walking on the ground. She sat on the bench and Eros remained standing.

“Do you want to know about Valkyrie?” she asked.

“No,” he answered, his voice was cool.

“No?” her face flushed. “So what are we doing here?”

“I wonder about you.” He looked at her intensely.

  “What about me?”

  “Yeah, about you”

“Why do you want to talk about me and not about Valkyrie?”

  “Forget Valkyrie!” he ordered.

“She is my friend,” she said.

“She is my friend, too,” he affirmed.

“I thought ...” she said confused.

  “Did you think what?”

“I thought you like her,” she insisted.

“And I do like her ...” he said naturally.

  “I'm relieved.”

“Not the way you're thinking.” Eros said again.

“Don’t you feel for her what she feels for you?” she asked surprised.

“No,” he replied coldly. ”And she knows it.”

“Valkyrie is in love with you, though she never said that to me.”

“I know.” He walked into the middle of the square. “She knows I cannot return what she feels for me.”

  “She doesn't deserve it.”

“I cannot stop it,” he confessed.

“That’s why you called me to talk?”

“No,” he said and stared at her face.

Mirta got confused. Eros was being mysterious all the time. He did not carry the same face of the young man who attended school. He looked much more bold and attractive.

Those feelings bothered her. She didn’t approve of the boy that her best friend was in love with.

  Chapter 16

Mirta remained standing beside the wooden bench. She held the skirt of her dress as she had knowledge of Eros’s approach.

He stopped walking in front of the girl and looked into her eyes. She attracted him to her.

Unlike me that had never caused him any effect.

Two pigeons flew up and Mirta looked up at them, hoping to divert her gaze from Eros. The vampire’s hands grabbed her face and made her gaze at him again. Mirta began to retreat with the feel his cold hands touching her delicate skin. But she could
not escape the clutches of the seductive vampire called Eros.

  Then he kissed her lips.

This damn kiss made me shed other tear of blood.

I was not in this place. But I could sense and see all scenes from the event. That was because Eros had a strong connection with me, from the moment he sucked my blood for the first time.

I was at my bedroom window, holding strongly the fabric of the curtain as I held myself back from going after the two of them. That would have been a big mistake.

  Chapter 17

  I couldn’t control my fury.

A gray smoke around my body appeared and carried me to the school gym. I did this in a few seconds as I was faster than a plane.

There was no one besides me in the gymnasium. There was only darkness and an immense void in the place.

The kiss between Eros and Mirta was still fresh in my mind.

I was standing in the center of the gym. Then I opened my arms and downloaded all my anger, which was not little. A blue energy went out of my hands and destroyed part of the sports great hall.

The nets tore. The basketball hoops melted and lamps broke. I felt happy doing that. But I still was not satisfied at all and then I destroyed the floor too. It was left with enormous cracks. I finally fell to the ground as I was weakened, having spent almost all my energies.

  Chapter 18

The next day I came to school as if nothing had happened. I walked with my head up. Everyone around me was commenting about the destruction of the gymnasium. They were surprised by the vandalism.

The school principal called the authorities to investigate the case, since they had no idea who would have done such a thing since there was no evidence of theft.

Halfway to the corridor I met with Mirta, who came running to me. She could not face me due to what had happened between Eros and her last night.

“Hi!” she said as she kept her head down.

  I did not answer.

“Have you seen what happened in the gym? That has never happened here!” she said, surprised. “Why are you strange?” she insisted. “Don’t you want to see me today?”

“I do not want to see you today or any other day either!” I said resentfully.

“Why are you treating me this way?”

“You can still ask me that?” I stared at her with a great hatred.

“I don’t know what you're talking about.” Mirta smoothed her hair, looking stunned.

  “I know everything.”

  “About?”

“About the kiss between you and Eros,” I affirmed.

“Did he say that to you?” Mirta was desperate to know how I was informed of everything.

“Make good use of him!” I said with my head up. I would never show my weakness.

“Valkyrie! Wait!” she cried hopelessly towards my back.

  I looked back at her.

“You made your choice,” I said, uncompromising.

Then I turned my back to her and started to walk on not giving her a chance to approach me.

The link involving my friendship with Mirta had broken when she was rewarded with Eros’ kiss.

Mirta would never occupy the post of my friend after all that had happened.

  Chapter 19

Now I had no friend in school. Mirta did not make contact with me after our discussion. She knew I no longer wanted her friendship, much less to tolerate her presence in my life.

That was why she always stayed away from me. She changed her sitting place in the classroom.

When math class ended, everyone left the scene. I remained in the classroom to take time and not to look at Mirta’s nose.

Someone returned to the classroom. I looked at the figure approaching me.

When I recognized who it was, I exclaimed, “Douglas!”

“Valkyrie! I need to talk to you.”

“If it's about us ...forget about it!” I ordered.

“Why do you not give me a chance?” he asked.

“I don't like you the way you behave.”

  “I don’t care about that.”

“But I do.” I grabbed my things quickly.

He grabbed my arm and felt my skin’s coldness.

“You feel cold!” he exclaimed to me.

“I am cold!” I said, looking at him. “Now free my arm!”

  “No,” he said, decided.

I felt threatened by Douglas. I did not like the way he came near me. His desire for me made me upset. He hugged me and tried to kiss my lips without my consent.

My lips were near his neck.

I could not control my urge to drink his blood.

He screamed as he felt my teeth piercing his neck. His blood flowed down as I was sucking it more and more, without interruption.

I was wise to abandon my prey in time. I had sucked 99% of his blood.

He was unconscious. He was about to die within minutes.

I could not leave his corpse in the classroom and raise suspicions that there was a vampire among humans. I disappeared into a dark smoke taking his corpse into my arms.

  Chapter 20

Eros and Mirta began dating frequently.

He went to school just to meet her at the school exit. It was a way for me to witness his involvement with her.

Basically, he wanted to hurt me, make me irritated. Maybe he wanted to take revenge on me for what my father did to him, having banished him from Neptune.

Despite his strong physical attraction for Mirta, I saw no other feeling in him. He seemed to want to use her to hit back at me.

  He was succeeding.

I watched the two in the schoolyard. Mirta put her hands on his face to caresses on him. She was smiling the whole time. Her face did not deny that she was in love with him.

All her feelings for Christian had disappeared.

She looked at me and saw that I watched them with my face serious. They then hugged and walked on and it shattered my nerves.

My vampire powers gave me wings to do several things that a human could not do. I focused my mind on a huge stone in the courtyard. It got up and moved rapidly towards Eros’ head. The stone scraped off his ear. As he was with his back to me, he couldn’t see the stone but he could sense the object approaching him. With the swift power of his mind he maneuvered the stone away from him before it could do any damage to his head.

He knew I had done it with my vampire powers.

He threw the stone back, without looking at me and walked beside her. Mirta did not see anything, she just looked at the stone on the ground when she heard the noise of the same falling down.

“What was that?” Mirta asked, frightened.

“A stone has come for a walk,” Eros answered ironically.

“What did you say?” she asked stunned.

  “It is a joke!”

  Chapter 21

I came back home as a mere mortal ... walking.

In fact I could become smoke and get home fast. But I did not want to do this. I needed to walk on and reflect about my damn life.

Eros came from the air and came down standing in front of me. I stopped walking after his sudden presence.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, injured.

“That stone almost hit me,” he informed me, serious.

“What a pity! You stopped it in time.”

  “Is that jealousy?”

He finally figured out the reason for my violent reaction.

Although I was a vampire, that reaction did not fit my behavior.

“Why don’t you leave me alone?” I asked in enragement.

“I don’t think you really want that,” he said playing with his fingers.

“Yes, I do want that.” I walked in front of him. “Stop hasseling me!”

“All right.” He went up and vanished into the air.

I looked up at the sky and did not see any trace of him.

At that moment he had answered my prayer.

  Chapter 22

  The pupils i
n school were frightened by a huge snake that appeared into the yard, in the middle of classes. They rushed to the school hallway.

The school principal came to see what was happening.

Students reported they saw a huge snake crawling on the lawn near the entrance. Some employees were assigned to search for the snake and kill it.

They took hours doing searches and found nothing. Due to this, students were released early.

After school, I was surprised to see Bizak outside the school. He was standing near the main gate.

“Bizak!” I exclaimed surprised at him.

“Valkyrie!” he said, smiling at me.

“What are you doing here?” I insisted.

“I’m going for a walk,” he said.

“Did you come here on my father's behalf?” I asked.

“Your father fell asleep again. He does not know I'm here on this planet,” he explained.

“That snake in the yard was you?”

“I did not think it would cause so much noise in this school!”

He thought it was funny to see people going into a panic.

“You could have been more discreet.”

“I will not do that again.”

“How did you find me here?” I asked him.

“It was not hard to find you.”

“Do you want to stay long on Earth?”

“I do not know yet ...”

“What about my father? How is he?”

  “How I told, he is...sleeping.”

We walked together to the main street.

“Your father banished Eros from Neptune.” Bizak wrinkled at the daylight. He was not used to it.

“I'm aware of that, ” I said normally.

“How do you know that?” he asked, staggered.

“Eros told me,” I confessed and looked down at the ground.

“Is he here?” Bizak asked in astonishment.
